EXTRA CREDIT: On Tuesday, September 28 at 6:00PM, the poet Ed Roberson will read his work at the Callen Conference Center on the campus of Nebraska Wesleyan University. If you attend this event and write a two-page, double-spaced paper on a particular poem, phrase, or line that caught your attention, inspired you, or you found oddly compelling for one reason or another, I will provide you with 1 extra credit point. Please, do not provide a narrative of the event itself. If you choose to work on the assignment, responses must be emailed to me by Thursday, September 30 at 6:00PM.

UPDATE: 09.20.10
READING: I've uploaded a plateau (i.e. chapter) from Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari's A Thousand Plateaus to Blackboard. Please, read this document in preparation for our class session on Monday, September 27. As I mentioned last week, this will be the most difficult reading we have this semester, so beginning on it today, through the rest of the week, would be to your benefit.
WRITING: In conjunction with the above reading assignment, you will need to write a 2-page, double-spaced paper worth 2 points that a) lists and briefly describes the concept(s) from each subsection of the excerpt, as well as b) discuss any ramifications, problems, or questions you might have regarding the material and our course. DUE: Monday, September 27 @ 8:30AM (Bring hard-copies to class). Additionally, you will need to write a one-page, double-spaced follow-up response to the project you just completed (or are about to complete). This response, which is also worth 2 points, should address a) aspects of the project-cycle you found interesting, helpful, or positive in some manner, as well as b) aspects of the project-cycle you found uninteresting, problematic, or confusing. DUE: The class following your performance; for example, groups that presented today (i.e. Monday, September 20) should email their follow-up response before the beginning of Wednesday's class session to unlengl@gmail.com.
